Porto Istana is in reality an amalgamation of 4 beaches, separated by little rocky outcrops. The shore is made up of fine white sand, sloping gently towards the emerald coloured water. This makes it ideally suited for bathing, especially for small children.
Situated opposite the protected marine area of Tavolara, it attracts surfers and lovers of underwater sports. There are many services, ranging from equipment and craft hire to public catering. There are many hotels and tourist residences nearby. Very well connected by public services and with a large car park, at a small charge. To get there from Olbia you should take the Strada Statale 125 towards Nuoro, turn left at the hamlet of Multa Maria and continue for 2km until you arrive at the large car park.
