Nuraghe Casteddu
Nuraghic period
Description of the site:
Situated right in the middle of the plain, on a gentle rise. The outer belt has a single entrance, to its right is inserted a mysterious tunnel, covered by slabs, which would seem from its shape to resemble a giant's tomb, rendered very rare because, in the Nuraghic period, the tombs were always built in the vicinity of the nuraghe, but never internally. The tower, rising on the peak of the hill, has a single storage space, terracing and pillars defending the gate and a ring-like corridor which probably led to a terrace and a raised floor.
How to get there: From Olbia, take the road for Loiri for 3.3 km, turn right, taking an off-road track. After two km one reaches a parking area under Castello di Pedres, from here the site can be reached on foot about 1 km to the North, fully and freely accessible at any time of day.
