Numerous cultural initiatives and events are organized annually in and around the city. Of considerable consequence in the world of cinema is the "One night in Italy" ('Una notte in Italia') festival which, since 1991, set amongst the wonderful scenery of Tavolara, has presented the best of Italian cinema, as well as a series of collateral events and shows. Also not to be missed are the theatre season, the international festival of dance in San Pantaleo and, particularly in Summer, a whole range of open air concerts.
